I realize there are a lot of folks out there struggling to pay for the basic supplies and medications they need to care for their diabetes.  The high cost is one of the shittiest things about having this shitty disease, if you’ll excuse my candor.

Like Michael Morgan I am also lucky with paying for perscriptions. Don't hate me for this but I pay 2.00 for a perscription. Earned it by working 30 years for a good company and it was part of my retirement package. To day I went to pick up some test strips and paid 35.00. Half the price because my retirement perscription did not cover neither did medicare so I had to use my present emplorers plan Keystone East. What can you do but keep working and hope you co. has a good med. plan and I agree with you it is SHITTY.

I am lucky in this respect . I still have the group ins. from my old job and will I have been approved for the disability retirement and the Health Ins. is the same as when I worked. I have never broken down the cost per item. between my cancer and the diabeties I pay out about $553.00 per month in co-pay. I have 2 Cancer meds that cost over $3,000.00 to my Insurence.

i guess I am lucky to be seen by a VA Clinic( I was in WACs 1954) I use the regular 100unit needles and mix my NPH and Reg. Novolin twice a day. I am a retired nurse so mixing dosage is no problem for me. The needles are no co pay and I am allowed one strip a day that is no Copay. I do pay 8.00 per vial for the two insulins tho. same price as I pay for my 30 day supply of Oral meds which I have 10 different meds plus the two insulins so I still have to put out a chunk of change. On SS it is a real battle with everything else going up. I don't have cable TV or a car so that helps, but when I pay rent, utilities and meds and a little food, I am broke. OH well guess it could be worse. They might try to take away SS.
