Dear Diabetes, I love you for motivating me to live a healthier life and to take better care of myself. You have probably saved my life. I love it when you talk to me and tell me that I cannot have a candy bar or that I should go for another walk. I love it when you encourage me to lose weight and to eat a proper diet. But… I must confess to you that I am a cheater. Yes, its true …I cheat on you with bbq sauce, salad dressing and an occasional cookie. I cheat on you each and every week at lunchtime on Saturdays. You see, you might be beating me sometimes but in the end you will NEVER fully win. I will fight you for full flavor, treats and snacks. I will fight you by losing weight and eating better. I will fight you diabetes for MY LIFE. You cannot take it and you will not because I will fight you until my last breath. Each day I get stronger and one day you will not rule my life the way you do now. But instead, you will become a simple reminder that I will keep forever in my mind. Sure I will live by your rules; but not always. You will NEVER win this battle. So, yes I do love you diabetes but…. I am and always will be a stubborn, motivated and fiesty person… and I WILL cheat on you. Sincerely, "The Cheater" ~KG~ …

This is my fight too!! Great article…
Excellent. Thanks for posting.
amen
Yes fighting in the key word, you will never give up on ridding yourself of diabetes. If we eat what God created from the ground, meaning try the herbs to help you combat or even reverse diabetes. I know they say you can't reverse it but I trust in God for all things, He has the last say.
The comment from Kevin Gee is wonderful and very encouraging. Sadly, I lost my father to "complications related to diabetes". In other words, his diabetes was so out of control, regardless of how hard he tried, and the diabetic strokes that were caused by this eventually took his life. I am grateful today for the advanced medications, early diagnoses and education that we have available so I can avoid this same type of thing. I just want to say thank you to all of the members of this panel for the encouraging words and pray that all is well in your lives. I too am like K.G. when he says "I love you diabetes" because, although this disease can be dreadful and sometimes even fatal when not treated properly or when out of control, it has helped to change my life and has motivated me to not only take better care of myself overall but to live every moment as if it were the ONLY moment in the world. I now look at the people around me, even strangers, as if they were my friends because I want to LIVE LIFE, and I now take the opportunity to say Hi to someone in line at the supermarket or laundromat and I even wave at people at red lights when I normally wouldn't. I cherish every breath I take and pray that all of the members of this site can take encouragement from one another as I have from them. Thank you friends and panel directers for this website and for all you do for one another. God bless and take care.
Incredible!!!! Indeed diabetes have been my wake up call to be good to myself because that's the only way I can truly be good to and for anyone else.
WOW! Thank you!
There is nothing to love about diabetes. There is everything to hate about it. How many of us would love to get rid of it?
Love it! This is how we defy diabetes. We have diabetes…diabetes does not have us! Diabetes is a wake up call…to live healthy…like we should have BEFORE we were diagnosed. I am with you, Cheater!
Happy day,
I could not read this and not comment. This is a very good write up I will share it w/my husband he is the diabetic in our home, plus others in our congregation. Thank you for this well written well said be blessed, & remember that you are highly favored in the name of Jesus.
Working 4 Jesus, & Loving it,

Very nicely put. I wil lsay these past two months changed my life dramatically
From one cheater to another - well put!! I think we all cheat at times, but we keep fighting the battle. I agree some day we will start beating the beast. We have to much to live for to let this beat us. Cheat on and fight on.
Diabetes has changed my life. albeit for the good. I am healthier. I watch what I eat and I cheat some times too. I haven't been a diabetic for long, just 2 years, almost. I have to say it is a struggle everyday, and everyday I learn something new. And I excercise more. I eat more fruits. I try to get more rest. It is a constant struggle that I am winning. I don't like being a diabetic, but it is part of my life so bring it on.
This made me smile. I feel like that as well. Diabetes will not ever win, and it can't change my fiesty and fun loving attitude either!!
