I'm sick. What I thought was becoming a cold has gone straight to my lungs. I'm feeling pretty miserable. On our way home from dinner I turned to Steve and said that my throat was starting to hurt. Within 10 minutes I was feeling bad. My first thought was "well that explains all those highs I've been dealing with for the past week." Is it bad that I felt a sense of relief to have an explanation even if it meant that I was sick?Yesterday, after a restless nights sleep, Steve and I participated in the JDRF Walk for a Cure at National's Stadium. I felt bad but was determined to participate in the walk. It was hot out but Steve and I finished and made it home to crash on the couch for a bit. Ever since my blood sugars have been phenomenal. As in I've been hanging out between 70-110.So today I am testing every 2 hours and curling up on the couch with a cup of hot tea. I despise being sick and having diabetes just makes being sick worse.Sorry this is such a complaining post. …

Add your commentI found when I am sick, my sugars go all over the map. I "forget" I have diabetes and work on getting my body back to health. I don't go AWOL, I am just a little more lenient with myself. You are right on the money. Being sick and having Diabetes is not a picnic! Tell Steve a foot massage would help you feel better! ;)
A burden shared is a burden halved. A joy share is a joy multiplied exponentially. Either way whatever is shared will touch others and bring rewards for all.

Sometimes when we don't let it all out, it just builds inside and can make other things worse. Thank you for being you and allowing us to share in your problems. Hope that you are feeling a little better and can continue to improve
My prayers are with you because when sugar goes up , you really feel like you will die , so take caution about being out in this hot climax.
Praying you feel better soon!
I know how you feel. I went through that a couple of years ago. I hardly use my inhaler anymore. When I got colds they always went to my lungs, Its terrible when you can't breathe. I have lost 30 pounds since last Christmas. I know that doesn't sound like alot. At first it was hard to do. Now its much easier, but I have come to a halt. I guess I have to do something else to lose weight. My sugar is under control, my cholestrol is down 60 points. So I will find away to keep going on my journey to beat Diabetes. Wish me luck!!!!!!
That is amazing you could finish the walk since you were not feeling well at all. The heat, not feeling good and just the stress of it all, probably has made everything off kilter and bg#'s up. Keep drinking a lot to stay hydrated and keep checking as you are doing..
Best of luck to you…
Take care and feel better! Congrats on finishing that walk, that was great, not sure I would have been able to do it!
Be very careful about over doing any exercise especially if you feel nauseous, you could pass out, or even become comatose if your blood sugar goes too low. Also Heat effects diabetics more than it does non-diabetics and heat stroke could happen. You should never exercise alone and the person with you should be very knowlegeable of the dangers of low blood sugar and of heat strokes, and they should be prepared to handle either. Best wishes.
Most diabetics are low on Vitamin B12 which makes them tired all the time. You might want to have your doctor check you for that, and also have him check your iron level especially if you have lost much blood in the past…even if it was years ago. Diabetics also feel tired when their sugar is up. Best of luck.
I admire you for finishing the walk even though you were sick. Take care of your self and God bless : )
Hi, I am new to having diabetes II. I have only been diagnosed about 3 months ago. Lately, I have been feeling very fatigued. I can't explain it! I watch my two grandkids daily. One is almost 2, the other is almost 8. Both share their birthdays in August, a day apart. Does that explain it? I will be 54 in September. I am not old enough to be this tired all the time. I also have other illnesses and have home health coming out on a daily basis. My throat has been sore for the past two days or so. I have chalked it off to the kids having colds, but, its really been more of allergies, and I think mine may be as well. My readings have been between 130 and 135 fasting and 170 and 190 after meals. My doctor seems to think this is ok, but the nutritionalist wants is lower. My RN who comes out tells me they are fine! I don't know who to believe! Any advice?
